📍 From Praça da República, Brazil
The Monumento aos Pracinhas in Belém, the capital of Pará, commemorates Brazilian servicemen who fought in the Second World War. Pracinhas is an affectionate term for soldiers, particularly associated with the Brazilian Expeditionary Force, which served alongside the Allies in Italy. The memorial brings this overseas campaign into the public landscape of an Amazonian city, linking local remembrance with Brazil’s role in the wider conflict.
