Monumento a Ugo Bassi is a spectacular white marble statue in Bologna, Italy. Located at the end of Via del Porto, it commemorates the life of Ugo Bassi, a pivotal force in the fight for independence during Italy’s Risorgimento. The monument represents a larger-than-life figure wearing a helmet and bearing a bayonet in his left hand, while his right hand grasps a folded Italian flag. Behind him, a monumental bas-relief panel pays tribute to the martyrs of the struggle for Italian unity. Designed by sculptor Ettore Ferrari, the monument was unveiled in 1882. Today, it stands in a serene square with gardens and fountains that were added to it in 1967. On sunny days, it is a popular place for locals to come relax and enjoy the view or take pictures.
