
Monumento a los Mineros is a landmark in Zipaquirá, Colombia, dedicated to Colombian miners. This monument consists of a big bronze miner, standing on a rectangular pedestal that is mounted on a big stone base. The huge miner figure was created in 1976 to commemorate 600 years of mining in the country, and is one of the most important monuments in Zipaquirá. It has a height of 8 m and it's located in the historic Plaza de Bolívar, just in front of Zipaquirá's Main Church. This plaza is surrounded by colonial buildings, all with spectacular facades. The monument is also notable for its illuminated column in the shape of a mine, which is lit up at night. It's a must-see monument for anyone visiting this beautiful town.
