📍 Italy
Standing in Piazzale Corridoni at the Ponte di Mezzo entrance to Parma’s Oltretorrente district, this monument commemorates Filippo Corridoni, a revolutionary syndicalist and interventionist who died fighting in the First World War in 1915. Unveiled in 1927, its emphatic vertical design and heroic sculptural language reflect the political culture of interwar Italy, when Corridoni’s legacy was adopted by Fascism. The monument forms a strong visual hinge between the bridge, the open square and the tightly built streets beyond, with its upright silhouette especially prominent when viewed across the Parma stream.
