Monumento a Alfonso XII is a grand monument located in the heart of Madrid, Spain. This impressive architectural site is dedicated to Alfonso XII, the King of Spain who passed away in 1885. The monument is designed in a Spanish neo-Renaissance style and features a large equestrian statue of Alfonso XII at the top. The monument stands 67 meters tall and it is surrounded by four marble lions and four cannons at the base. Inside the monument, visitors can find several sculptures of people such as Hispanitas and generals, as well as a crypt honoring the late king. The surrounding Parque del Buen Retiro gardens offer a wonderful view of the monument and the park is itself a popular tourist attraction.
