The Monument to Minin and Pozharsky is a must-see for travelers and photographers visiting Russia. Located in central Moscow on Red Square, the monument is a symbol of the Russian people's struggle for freedom from Polish-Lithuanian domination. It was built in 1818 and designed by architect Peter Pitcharetov. The monument features two figures, Prince Dmitry Pozharsky and Kuzma Minin, leader of the militia that liberated Moscow from foreign occupation in 1612. The two men are shown in front of a statue of St. Basil, Patron of Moscow. Visitors can admire the detailed bronze reliefs on the pedestal and the intricate carving on the figures.
