Located in the Italian Dolomites near the historic village of Sexten, Monte Paterno offers some of the most stunning panoramic views in the entire mountain range. Its highest peak reaches an impressive 2,666m and from the top, hikers are rewarded with sweeping views of the Dolomite peaks. It's a fairly strenuous hike but well worth the effort for anyone wanting to experience the full beauty of the Dolomites. From the summit, you can also spot some local wildlife including eagles, martins and foxes. All along the slopes, there are many crystal clear streams, rifts, and creeks with ice-cold, clear waters, which make a refreshing halt on the way. Although it's quite exposed and the weather can be subject to change, it's a fantastic destination for avid hikers, explorers and nature lovers.
