The Monastery Voroneț is a prime example of the beautiful architecture and art which blesses Eastern Europe. This masterpiece was built when Stephen the Great was ruling the principality of Moldavia, in a period referred to by Moldavians as the ‘Golden Age’. The walls of the monastery are painted with the brilliant and vibrant blues for which it has become famous and represent a style of mural art that is known as “Voroneț Blue”. The building also contains details such as Latin inscriptions relating to the Apocalypse and a scene of the Last Judgment. The doors, windows, and gables of the church are all further decorated to add even more beauty to the structure. The interior of the monument contains frescoes, a unique carved stone in the altar, and beautiful wooden chairs covered in various shades of velvet. It is a stunning place that truly stands the test of time.
