📍 Spain
Molinos de Viento de Consuegra y Castillo is an ancient Spanish hilltop where you can admire and explore some of the oldest ruins in the country. Consuegra, located approximately 100 km from Madrid, lies on the banks of the River Tajo. The village is best known for its 12 windmills, from which its name is derived, that are lined up along the ridge of the hill, and for its magnificent castle, built in 1232. The village has undergone a great makeover, and its streets are filled with life and color. Aside from the windmills and castle, other attractions in the area include the 12th-century church of Santa María La Mayor, and a host of interesting bars and restaurants. The area is also ideal for long, scenic walks.
