Misurina is a small high-altitude resort village in the municipality of Auronzo di Cadore, in Veneto’s Belluno province. It is arranged around Lake Misurina at about 1,754 metres, beneath some of the most recognizable mountain groups in the eastern Dolomites, including the Cadini di Misurina, Sorapiss and Cristallo. The compact lake gives the settlement its distinctive character: hotels and historic resort buildings line the shore while pale limestone towers rise abruptly beyond the water. In calm conditions, the lake reflects the surrounding peaks and forest, creating strong layered compositions of architecture, water and rock. Misurina is also a principal approach to Tre Cime di Lavaredo, whose access road begins nearby.
