Mission San Juan Capistrano is the seventh of the 21 Spanish missions founded in California in the 1700s. It is located in the city of San Juan Capistrano in Orange County, California. The architectural design of the mission is a mix of several styles: it was partly built in the Moorish Revival style in the early community, and later in the Mexican Colonial style. The mission was badly damaged by an earthquake in 1812, but was repaired and still stands today. It is one of California’s most visited historical sites, and visitors come to explore the museum, the beautiful gardens and other features. There are many ongoing works of restoration and conservation, and visitors can take part in the special 14-day educational program offered. Visitors can also experience a candle-lit tour of the ruins and enjoy musical and theatrical performances on the mission grounds.
