Mission San José Church is one of the most iconic structures affiliated with San Antonio’s storied past. Built in 1768, it served as a mission and chapel in the state of Texas. This National Historic Landmark carries tremendous significance - both architectural and inspirational - for the City of San Antonio and the State of Texas. High walls, elaborate patios, and grand arches create remarkable photo opportunities. Inside, you’ll find intricately painted ceilings, multi-colored frescos with religious artwork, and well-preserved walls with iconography. Visitors are allowed to explore this beautiful church in the evenings, at no charge.
