Mirogoj Cemetery is a beautifully maintained necropolis in Zagreb, Croatia. It is considered to be Croatia's most prestigious cemetery and is a popular tourist attraction. The cemetery was constructed in 1876 and is filled with paths and alleyways lined with tall Cypress trees and weeping willows. Several important Croatian dignitaries are buried here, including several Croatian presidents and other political and literary figures. Visitors can also find ornate tombs and grand mausoleums of all designs set against the grassy green park's backdrop. The cemetery is a photographer's dream and is a must see for anyone visiting Zagreb. It is conveniently located at the slopes of Medvednica mountain and entrance is free.
