The Milwaukee Art Museum is an iconic landmark in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, the museum is home to over 25,000 works of art, from Renaissance masterpieces to modern and contemporary art. The museum was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and features a striking, wing-like addition also designed by Calatrava, named the Quadracci Pavilion. The museum features changing exhibitions in its permanent collection galleries and special exhibitions, as well as lectures, educational programs, and various events. With galleries specifically devoted to ancient Mediterranean art, decorative arts and design, European and American art, modern art, and a wing devoted to photography, the museum is a great place to explore and learn more about art. It also has a number of outdoor sculpture gardens, perfect for a leisurely stroll.
