📍 From Bridge, United Kingdom
The Millennium Bridge in Greater London is a pedestrian suspension bridge that links Bankside with the City of London over the River Thames. The bridge was opened in June 2000 and was the first new bridge across the Thames in London since Tower Bridge was opened in 1894. The bridge is owned and managed by the City of London Corporation and it is estimated that over 70,000 people use the bridge every day. The bridge is particularly known for its unique modern design featuring two symmetrical curved steel arches that are held on steel piers. The bridge also has a distinctive oscillation which occurs as people start to walk on it, earning it the nickname of the ‘wobbly bridge’. Accessible from both North and South of the Thames, the view from the bridge is simply spectacular. Visitors can take in the views of St. Paul’s Cathedral, the City of London skyline and the London Eye.
