Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe
📍 From Inside, Germany
The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe is a solemn tribute to those who were killed during the Holocaust. The site consists of a vast field of 2,711 concrete slabs, arranged in a grid pattern, evoking feelings of loneliness and sorrow. It was designed by architect Peter Eisenman as a tribute to victims of Nazi Germany, and was completed in 2004. Visitors to the memorial can wander around the site and read the names of some of the concentration camp victims. The underground "Information Centre" contains additional historical information about the Holocaust. The memorial is open daily and is free to the public – making it an incredibly moving and poignant experience.
