The Memorial of Leonidas and 300 Spartans is located in the Greek town of Lamia and was erected in honor of the defenders who fought in the battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC. The monument comprises a granite-carved replica of a helmet opening into a basin of cold water, flanked by two statues of lions. The statue of Leonidas, the Sparta King, stands nearby, sword in hand, along with a narrative inscription. The memorial is a great reminder of one of the most famous battles in history and a reminder of the past glory and sacrifice of the Greek people. The monument is located near the archaeological site of Thermopylae and is surrounded by pine trees, making it a great spot to take a walk.
