Memorial Al’pinistov is one of the most iconic and beloved landmarks in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It is a white marble obelisk situated on a hilltop overlooking the city, dedicated to fallen mountaineers and dedicated to the spirit of adventure. The monument was built in 2001, designed by local sculptors Kairat Utebaliyev and Andrey Tupitsin, and it stands 46 meters high.

The obelisk itself is actually hollow inside, containing a museum with pictures and artifacts from a number of major expeditions and an amphitheater for outdoor events. The surrounding area is a well-manicured park filled with numerous sculptures, fountains and benches. The park also features a chapel and a memorial to memorialize victims of the mountaineering expeditions. The site offers breathtaking views of the city and is often filled with the sound of carillons, which are rung hourly. It's a great spot for a stroll and is a popular destination for both locals and tourists.
