Mehal Zege Betre Mariam Church is a stunning Greek Orthodox church in Zege, Ethiopia. The church is believed to have been built by King Za-Dengel, one of the first Christian kings of the country, in the 15th century. The church has since been restored and expanded to its current size. It has a brilliantly ornate interior, filled with vibrant frescoes and sculptures. While the outside of the church is rather plain, the inside is extremely rich with wonderful colors and paintings. Visitors are often allowed to enter the church, however, it is not open for religious services. This makes it a perfect place for taking a stroll around the grounds and admiring the beauty of the architecture and artwork.
