Medellín, the capital of Colombia’s Antioquia department, occupies the Aburrá Valley in the Andes, with dense urban neighborhoods climbing the surrounding slopes. Its geography gives the city a distinctive visual scale: red-brick hillside housing, clusters of high-rises, and green mountain ridges often share the same frame. The elevated Metro and cable-car lines are defining elements of the cityscape, connecting the valley floor with hillside communities.
