Maurangsfjorden is a narrow arm of the Hardangerfjord system in Mauranger, part of Kvinnherad municipality in Vestland. Glacially carved mountains rise sharply from the water, leaving only slim bands of shoreline for roads, farms and small settlements, while the Folgefonna ice cap lies above the surrounding high country. Toward its inner reaches, the fjord divides into Nordrepollen and Austrepollen, reinforcing the enclosed, steep-sided character of the landscape. Calm conditions bring dark reflections of mountains and waterfalls, while low cloud often layers the slopes and emphasizes their scale. Nearby Sunndal is the gateway to Bondhusdalen and views toward Bondhusbreen, a glacier arm of Folgefonna.
