📍 From Matsuyama Castle, Japan
Matsuyama is a city in western Japan and home to Matsuyama Castle, the largest and most complete castle in the Shikoku region. Matsuyama is known for its beautiful hot springs and is a popular destination for visitors seeking relaxation and healing. The city was once the site of Tōyōgū, a shinto shrine, and is home to a variety of museums, historical sites and temples, including the city’s lively Dogo Onsen hot springs. Matsuyama Castle is the iconic attraction of Matsuyama. The castle was constructed in 1603, and the grounds were used as an aristocratic residence until the Meiji period. The castle grounds are accessible by the Hiragishi Tram and the Bōshi-tei Museum, which offers an interactive experience with the castle’s history, culture and lifestyle. The area surrounding the castle is connected by the city’s Youchien Park and is a popular destination year round.
