Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah is the state mosque of Selangor, located in the capital city of Shah Alam. Towering over the city skyline in a striking combination of blue and white, the mosque was designed by Jimmy Cipher and inaugurated in 1988. Inside, visitors will find a grand prayer hall crowned with a large dome inspired by Cairo’s Sultan Hassan Mosque, and distinct Moorish-Indonesian-Malay architectural motifs. Both the walls and ceiling of the prayer hall are inscribed with intricate Islamic calligraphy. Its large central courtyard is lined with trees, giving a serene and delightful atmosphere. Visitors should be aware that this mosque requires that visitors dress modestly, and women to wear a tudung or head scarf, both of which are can be provided by the mosque. It is open to visitors daily from 8 am to 1 m, and 6pm to 8 pm.
