The Martinitoren is the tallest building in Groningen, Netherlands. Located in the Grote Markt, the tower was built in the 13th century, and stands at a height of 85 meters. The bell tower has a long history in the city and is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Groningen. The iconic clock on the tower is well known throughout the region and its 41 bells have been ringing to mark the hours since 1511. The winding stairs up the tower offer stunning views of Groningen and its surrounding areas, and it is a popular spot for photographers. A lift has been installed in order to make the trip up the tower easier for those who do not wish to climb the stairs. The town hall is also located in the Grote Markt, and guided tours of the tower are available from April to October.
