Marina City - The Corn Cob Towers in Chicago, United States are two iconic buildings, often featured in movies, TV shows, and photos. Constructed in 1964 for the Marina City company, it was the first mixed-use development ever built in the US and is recognized as an outward expression of "having it all" that was popular at that time. The towers have a total of 650 apartments, offices, a theatre, a bowling alley, a marina, a gym, and a health spa. One of the buildings was designed like a corncob, which is a homage to the local Chicago food culture. Marina City is an impressive example of modern architecture, thanks to its daring architecture, mid-century modern design, and its symbolism of the time in which it was created. It is also a popular tourist destination.
