Marina Bay Sands is Singapore’s iconic integrated resort complex on reclaimed land at Marina Bay, combining a luxury hotel, casino, convention center, shopping mall, theaters, the ArtScience Museum and expansive public spaces. It’s important as a global leisure, business and cultural hub that reshaped Singapore’s skyline and tourism economy.
Conceived by Las Vegas Sands and opened in 2010 after an ambitious engineering project, the complex anchors the Marina Bay redevelopment. Architect Moshe Safdie’s design features three 55-storey towers linked at the top by the 340‑metre SkyPark — a 1.2‑hectare cantilevered platform that hosts gardens, restaurants, an observation deck and the world‑famous rooftop infinity pool. The pool’s dramatic edge appears to merge with the bay and is structurally supported by the towers’ podium; the SkyPark cantilever extends about 67 metres beyond the north tower. Unique offerings include the ArtScience Museum with its lotus‑inspired form, the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, high‑end retail at The Shoppes with a canal and gondolas, nightly light and water Spectra shows at the Event Plaza, and celebrity chef restaurants. Note: the infinity pool is strictly for registered hotel guests; the SkyPark observation deck and many public events are ticketed. The complex’s mix of engineering daring, public programming and luxury amenities makes it a singular urban landmark.
