📍 From Fields, Switzerland
Mariankirkko is a traditional stone church in the small alpine village of Kandersteg. The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and was first built in 1356 by the Count of Kanderburg. It has been renovated several times throughout its history, most recently in 1963. Today, Mariankirkko is open to visitors and serves as a popular attraction for those looking to explore the Swiss Alps. Inside the church, visitors will find traditional stained glass windows, wooden prayer desks, and antique organs. There is also a bell tower which is open to visitors who wish to climb for a view of the alpine valley. The village of Kandersteg is located in the Bernese Oberland region, and is a must-see destination for those travelling in Switzerland. It’s known for its picturesque alpine meadows and ski trails, as well as its stunning views of the mountains.
