Maria Theresie Straße is a historic street in the heart of Innsbruck, Austria. It is home to some of the city's most important buildings and monuments, including the world-famous Golden Roof. The street was originally part of a medieval city wall built in 1420 and it was renamed in honor of the Austrian Empress Maria Theresa in 1766. The street is lined with neoclassical buildings, the most noteworthy being the Hofburg. The Hofburg is a magnificent building that dates back to 1253 and is home to several important institutions such as the Innsbruck State Library and Museum. Other notable buildings located on this street include the Hofkirche, a Baroque church, and the Imperial Palace, which was once home to the Habsburg Monarchy.
