The Marais Salants de Kervillen are working salt pans near Kervillen beach in La Trinité-sur-Mer, on the Quiberon Bay coast of southern Brittany. They reveal a different side of this sailing town: a coastal landscape shaped by traditional sea-salt production. Salt workers, known as paludiers, channel seawater through shallow basins, where evaporation by sun and wind concentrates the brine until salt crystallizes. Coarse salt forms on the basin floor, while fleur de sel is collected from the surface. Low earthen banks divide the marsh into geometric plots, creating a distinctive pattern of narrow lines and reflective water. The flat terrain leaves the sky visually dominant, with its changing colors mirrored across the pans.
