The Manhattan Downtown and Empty Sky Memorial is a historic site of great significance in Jersey City, United States. It is a commemoration of the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the 9/11 attacks on two of New York City's most iconic buildings - the World Trade Center. The memorial has two main components - the memorial plaza, which honors those lost with a twisted piece of steel from the World Trade Center tower, and the interpretative walkway, which connects the plaza to Jersey City's Exchange Place and features dramatic facades, a forest of glass obelisks, and an array of searchlights. The Manhattan Downtown and Empty Sky Memorial is an incredibly moving site to visit, honoring those whose lives were lost in the tragic events of 9/11 and giving perspective on the devastation that occurred.
