Mangartsko sedlo is a high mountain saddle in the Julian Alps, above Log pod Mangartom and on the Slovenian–Italian border, beneath the limestone mass of Mangart. Its access road, built by the Italian military in the interwar period, climbs above 2,000 metres through tight hairpins and rock-cut tunnels. Pale cliffs rise above grassy slopes, while the winding road provides a striking measure of the terrain’s scale. From the saddle, views extend across the border toward Italy’s Fusine Lakes, with dark forest contrasting against the exposed rock of the surrounding peaks. Snow makes road access seasonal, so this is a high-alpine landscape rather than a year-round roadside viewpoint.
