Kruger National Park, in South Africa, is one of the world's most popular safari destinations. Home to the "Big Five" game animals (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo), Kruger Park has many spectacular wildlife watching opportunities. Animals can be seen roaming their natural habitats year-round, but species like zebra, wildebeest, cheetah and giraffe are particularly active during the summer months (October-April). Nature walks, guided safaris and hot air balloon rides provide up-close experiences of this vast and sprawling park, while 4X4 game drives and hikes offer the chance to explore hard-to-reach areas. Kruger is also a bird-watcher’s dream, boasting more than 500 species of bird. Other activities in the park include bush camping, storytelling, and visits to ancient archaeological sites.
