Malta Maritime Museum

The Malta Maritime Museum is located in Birgu, Malta and was established in 1962. It is one of the oldest maritime museums in the Mediterranean Sea region. The museum boasts a rich collection of maritime artefacts, artifacts, and documents with an emphasis on Maltese maritime history and human activities in and around the Mediterranean. Visitors can explore and experience both historical and modern seafaring traditions, life at sea, fishing equipment and dive artefacts, ships and boats, boatbuilding, navigation, and maritime trade and commerce. The museum is housed in a building which was previously an armouries and has displays of ancient iron anchors, rigging, and figureheads from boats. Additionally, the museum displays panels and models of archaeological finds, illustrations of typical Maltese boat building, depictions of the early harbour of Vittoriosa, and traditional Maltese costumes.
