Malmö Centralstation
📍 From Inside, Sweden
Malmö Centralstation is the city’s main railway station, on the northern edge of the historic centre beside the canal and former harbour area. Opened in 1856, it connects Malmö with the rest of Skåne and with Copenhagen across the Öresund link. Its historic red-brick buildings and covered platforms contrast with the underground station added for the City Tunnel, which opened in 2010 and transformed rail travel through the city. That layering of railway eras defines its visual character: masonry façades and tall windows above ground, contemporary infrastructure below. Views from across the canal place the station within Malmö’s waterfront streetscape, while the platform halls reveal the structure and scale of a working railway hub.
