The Model of Medieval Königsberg in Svetlogorsk presents a miniature reconstruction of the historic city now known as Kaliningrad. Its compact arrangement of walls, towers, churches, bridges and tightly packed roofs helps visitors understand the dense urban form of old Königsberg, much of which disappeared through wartime destruction and postwar redevelopment. Viewed from above, the model reveals the relationship between fortified districts and waterways more clearly than surviving fragments of the city can. Low, angled light emphasizes the miniature masonry, roof patterns and narrow streets, while close viewpoints create convincing cityscape compositions at a reduced scale.
