Mairie de Villeurbanne is a 12-story town hall located in the center of Villeurbanne, France. It is a modernist building and a noteworthy sample of mid-20th century French architecture. Designed by the French architect, Lucien Gaudin, and built in 1957, it stands as a focal point of the city amongst other nearby administrative buildings. Mairie de Villeurbanne is accessible from the city center and from the highway, making it a great starting point to explore Villeurbanne. The sun terrace at the top of the building provides a panoramic view of the city, the Rhone valley and the snow-covered Alpes in winter. Inside, the freely open-space exhibition hall at the basement is also worth a visit.
