📍 Hungary
The Hungarian Agricultural Museum is housed in Vajdahunyad Castle in Budapest’s Városliget, or City Park, near Heroes’ Square. Its collections explore Hungary’s rural heritage through farming, animal husbandry, winemaking, forestry and hunting. The setting is itself an architectural exhibit: first created for the 1896 Millennium Exhibition and later rebuilt in permanent materials, the castle combines Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements drawn from historic buildings across the former Kingdom of Hungary. Its best-known Gothic features echo Hunyad Castle in present-day Romania. Arched gateways, varied towers and ornate palace façades give the courtyards contrasting textures and silhouettes, while views across the park lake reveal the complex’s deliberately varied skyline.
