📍 From Inside, Germany
Magdeburg Cathedral, officially known as the Cathedral of Saints Catherine and Maurice, is a striking example of Gothic architecture located in Magdeburg, Germany. As one of the largest cathedrals in Eastern Germany, it serves as the burial site of Emperor Otto I, the first Holy Roman Emperor. Construction began in 1209 on the site of previous smaller churches, and it took over 300 years to complete. Visitors are captivated by its impressive twin towers and richly decorated façade. The interior features beautiful stained-glass windows, intricate sculptures, and a 12th-century pulpit attributed to the famed artist, Hans von Schönsperger. Nearby, the Elbe River and surrounding gardens offer picturesque settings for relaxation and sightseeing.
