Madhavendra Bhawan is the palace complex within Nahargarh Fort, set along the Aravalli ridge above Jaipur’s walled city. Created for Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II and his queens, it is arranged as a series of nine similar apartments linked by corridors and courtyards, with the ruler’s quarters positioned to connect discreetly with them. Repeated doorways, staircases, painted interiors and warm sandstone surfaces give the building a strong visual rhythm, while rooftop and terrace views place its enclosed geometry against Jaipur’s broad urban grid. The contrast between intimate royal rooms and the expansive city below is central to the character of the site.
