Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Inca citadel located in the Urubamba Valley in Peru. Located at over 2,000m above sea level, it is shrouded in clouds, and surrounded by breathtaking mountain landscapes. Machu Picchu is also known as one of the world’s most important archaeological sites. The city is a wonder to behold, with its complex network of terraces, straight-sided structures and mysterious doorways. Hike the surrounding mountains to get a full view of the city, and to enjoy the lush vegetation and spectacular views of the distant mountains. Visit the Inca Bridge, which is located just outside the city, and explore the ruins of the Royal Tomb, the terraced gardens and the ruins of the Temple of the Three Windows. There are plenty of areas to explore, and despite the amount of visitors, it retains a sense of mystery and awe.
