📍 From Place de la Concorde, France
The Luxor Obelisk, located in Place de la Concorde in Paris, France, is one of the most iconic landmarks in the City of Lights. An ancient Egyptian granite obelisk, the Luxor Obelisk was brought to Paris in 1836 by King Charles X and is located in the middle of the square. An inscription on the base of the obelisk reads "Ramesses II" while the opposite side reads "Cleopatra". Standing 23 meters (78 feet) high and weighing more than 230 tons, the Luxor Obelisk is an amazing sight to see for any visitor to the Place de la Concorde. The obelisk is surrounded by two famous fountains and two bronze statues of horses. The surrounding square is home to two other iconic statues, the Winged Victory of Samothrace and The Native Americans by Frederick Bartholdi. Aside from being an awe-inspiring spot from a historic standpoint, the square itself has wonderful views of the Seine, the Tuileries Gardens, and the Eiffel Tower, making Place de la Concorde a must-visit for any Paris visitor.
