Lungomare degli Eroi is Otranto’s principal seafront promenade, running along the waterfront beside the town’s historic harbour and ancient ramparts on Italy’s Adriatic coast. Visually it frames the contrast between low, whitewashed houses and the open sea: from the promenade you can photograph the town’s skyline and church silhouette against wide water, fishermen and small moored boats close to the quay, and the textured masonry of the seaside walls. The long, linear perspective of the paved walkway and balustrades makes for strong compositional lines; reflections on calm days and changing sky colors give the shore a cinematic quality. The promenade is public and at street level, so images can include daily coastal life alongside the medieval urban edge.
