📍 From Lower Lookout Point, United States
The Lower Falls of Yellowstone are situated in Canyon Village in the United States. Formed from at least two lava flows that solidified between 2 and 3 million years ago, the Lower Falls plunge a spectacular 308 feet (94 meters) into the canyon below making it one of the star attractions of the iconic Yellowstone National Park. The falls can be admired from Inspiration Point and Uncle Tom's Point, both of which offer stunning, panoramic views of the plunging water and Upper Falls only 1/4 of a mile upstream. With multiple trails around the falls, visitors can explore the Lower Falls from different vantage points to several open viewing points or get closer to the cascading waters. For example, the North Rim Trail, which is only a mile long, crosses the river, leading past the Lower Falls to a viewpoint 100 feet above the canyon. Whichever views you take in, the clear waters of the Yellowstone River, rocky canyons, and evergreen trees make it one of the most photogenic spots in the country.
