The Louisiana State Capital in Baton Rouge is the official seat of government in the U.S. state of Louisiana. It is located downtown Baton Rouge, along the Mississippi River.

The building in which the state government offices are housed is a 27-story high-rise building, which was opened in 1932. It is one of the most stately buildings ever constructed in the South and has some unmatched art-deco details that are worth appreciating. The area around the building is amazing too. It has many monuments, parks, and gardens that are lovely to explore. Memorial Tower is also worth visiting, as it has statues of past and present Louisiana governors. You can also visit the Old State Capitol building to have a glimpse of Louisiana's history. The state Capitol grounds include other historical sites as well, such as the Chambers where the Louisiana Legislature meets. When you visit the State Capital, don't forget to check out the Louisiana State Museum to learn more about the state's history and culture. The museum also has some great art displays. If you want to take some photos of the State Capitol, make sure to check beforehand if you need special permission. It is possible to take some excellent shots from the grounds adjacent to the building.
