Lord Murugan Statue is a 42.7 meter tall statue of Lord Murugan situated at Batu Caves, a limestone hill in Gombak district, Selangor, Malaysia. It is the tallest such statue in Malaysia and one of the tallest in the world. The statue was designed by sculptors taken from Kovil Okkalar in Tamil Nadu, India. The statue of Murugan is made of steel frames, copper plates and reinforced concrete. It was constructed as a way of celebrating the Thaipusam Hindu festival which takes place at the caves, every year. The statue cost approximately 24 million Malaysian ringgit to construct. Besides the Lord Murugan Statue, Batu Caves is famous for its various caves which are full of Hindu shrines. The spectacular views of the caves make this place a popular spot for tourists.
