📍 Vietnam
Lòng hồ Núi Sập is a quarry-lake landscape at the foot of Núi Sập in Thoại Sơn, An Giang, within Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. Stone extraction left deep hollows that filled with water, creating a striking contrast between exposed rock faces, green hillsides and the surrounding delta plains. The lakes are associated with the Hồ Ông Thoại recreation area, whose name honors Nguyễn Văn Thoại, also known as Thoại Ngọc Hầu, a historical figure linked to canal building and settlement in the region. Reflections bring the quarry walls into the foreground, making the meeting of water, vegetation and excavated stone the scene’s defining visual feature.
