Little Water Cay, widely known as Iguana Island, lies just offshore from Leeward on the northeastern side of Providenciales. The low limestone cay is a protected refuge for the Turks and Caicos rock iguana, an endangered species found only in this island group. Boardwalk trails cross coastal scrub and sandy terrain, offering close views of iguanas against pale rock, sea grape, and vivid turquoise water—a scene that captures the contrast between the islands’ dry interior and surrounding shallows. Access is by boat or kayak, and visitors should remain on designated routes, avoid feeding or touching the iguanas, and respect the cay’s fragile habitat.
