📍 China
Lingshan Town Nianhuawan is a modern Zen-themed cultural resort on the Mashan Peninsula in Wuxi, close to Lake Taihu and the Lingshan Buddhist scenic area. Its name refers to the Buddhist image of holding up a flower, associated with wordless insight and the “flower sermon.” Rather than an ancient preserved town, Nianhuawan is a carefully designed pedestrian settlement drawing on traditional Jiangnan and Tang–Song architectural forms. White walls, dark tiled roofs, timber-fronted lanes, stone paths, gardens and narrow waterways create layered compositions, while the multi-storey Nianhua Pagoda forms the most recognizable vertical landmark. Reflections, lantern-lit streets and framed views through gateways emphasize the site’s calm, theatrical character.
