Linderhof is an ornate and luxurious 19th century palace located in the small Bavarian village of Ettal, Germany. It was created as a getaway for King Ludwig II of Bavaria and completed in 1886. The palace indicates the grandiose and flamboyant tastes of the king himself, and the grounds are marked with fountains and park-like gardens. Visitors to the grounds can explore some of the palace's grand staterooms and private chambers, as well as view artifacts, furniture and decorations related to King Ludwig. An outdoor 'Venus Grotto' is part of the tour as well. Set in the Ettal mountains, Linderhof Castle is a beautiful reminder of King Ludwig’s lasting legacy.
