Lincoln Park Conservatory is a historic glasshouse on Chicago’s North Side, set within Lincoln Park beside the Lincoln Park Zoo. Completed in the late 19th century, its iron-and-glass structure reflects the era when civic conservatories brought tropical plant collections into northern cities. Four connected display spaces include the lofty Palm House, the densely layered Fern Room, an Orchid House, and a Show House used for seasonal displays. Photographs are defined by the rhythmic window frames, arching rooflines, filtered daylight, glossy leaves, and the striking contrast between lush vegetation and Chicago’s urban surroundings. The central paths also reveal dramatic shifts in scale, from towering palms to intricate fern fronds and orchid blooms.
